2022 STATEWIDE ELECTIONS

There are three statewide election days this year on June 11th, August 16th and November 8th.

The first election day is June 11th, the “Special Statewide Primary Election for U.S. Representative” to select 4 candidates to temporarily fill the vacant US House seat of Don Young (approximately a 3 month term). This is a Vote-by-Mail election, where the names will list without party affiliation and the top 4 vote-getters move on.

The second election day is August 16th when both the “Special Statewide General Election for U.S. Representative” and the “Statewide Primary Election” will take place. The former will use a Ranked Choice ballot to elect, from the 4 selected on June 11th, the person to temporarily fill the vacant US House seat of Don Young (approximately 3  months).  The latter is the Statewide Primary which uses Non-Partisan Top 4 (as for the June 11th vote) to select the top four candidates for all “open” Alaska State and US seats, including for the US Representative seat of Don Young, this time for the full 2 year term. This is a Polling Place, or sometimes known as an In Person election, but you can vote Absentee if you register by the deadline.

The third election day is November 8th, the Statewide General Election, where the top 4 vote getters from the August 16th Statewide Primary will be selected using a Ranked Choice ballot. This is a Polling Place, or sometimes known as an In Person election, but you can vote Absentee if you register by the deadline.
