Our History

The League of Women Voters was founded to ensure every voice in our community is heard and every vote counts. Since 1951, the League has championed nonpartisan voter education, civic engagement, and transparent government.

We are neighbors, volunteers, and advocates working to protect democracy and empower citizens. Our mission is rooted in the belief that democracy is strongest when everyone participates—and that work is never done.

Empowering Voters with Ballot Clarity

Each year, our volunteers work closely with municipal staff to create the Ballot Review, a trusted, nonpartisan guide delivered to every Anchorage household. It helps voters understand candidates, bond propositions, and how to vote with confidence from home or at the polls.
