OUR LEADERSHIP
The League of Women Voters of Anchorage board consists of the four officers, six elected members, and up to six appointed members. At the annual meeting, members vote to elect the officers and usually three board members who each serve for two years.
After the election, the board may also appoint up to six additional directors if needed to help keep our work moving forward. These appointed directors serve for one year, until the next annual meeting. Our leadership team is deeply rooted in the Anchorage community and has dedicated years to civic engagement and voter education.

Board of Directors Meetings
The board meets the first Wednesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. usually via Zoom. All members of LWV Anchorage are welcome to attend. If you’d like to attend, drop us a note and we’ll send you the Zoom link.
Bylaws and Member Handbook
Bylaws are reviewed each year. If the committee recommends changes, amendments are presented to the members at the annual meeting for a vote. When the first three articles of the LWVUS Bylaws are amended, state and local leagues are required to amend their bylaws to conform. Article XII, Section 1(c) of the LWAV Anchorage Bylaws permits the board, by a majority vote, to amend the Bylaws to conform to the LWVUS Bylaws.
The Member Handbook is your go-to guide for all things League – terms, procedures, and how we get things done.
Policies
The League of Women Voters of Anchorage is guided by a robust set of policies designed to ensure integrity, transparency, and nonpartisan advocacy in all aspects of our work. From fiscal responsibility and ethical governance to thoughtful coalition engagement and active civic participation, our policies reflect a deep commitment to democratic principles. We empower our members to engage in public life while maintaining the League’s trusted voice on issues that impact our community.
LWV Principles
The Principles are “concepts of government” to which the League subscribes. They are a descendant of the Platform which served from 1942 to 1956 as the national repository for “principles supported and positions taken by the League as a whole in fields of government to which it has given sustained attention.”
