Anchorage conducts its municipal elections annually, primarily through a vote-by-mail system. Registered voters receive their ballots by mail and can return them via secure drop boxes, mail, or in person at designated Vote Centers. These elections determine key local positions, including Assembly members and School Board representatives, as well as decisions on various bonds and propositions. Staying informed about upcoming election dates, understanding the issues on the ballot, and knowing the available voting methods are crucial steps to ensure your voice is heard in shaping Anchorage’s future.
- March 8: Last day to register to vote in Regular Election
- March 15: Ballot Review is mailed to all Anchorage households
- March 17: Ballot packages mailed to qualified Anchorage voters
- March 18: Secure Drop Boxes open
- March 31: Anchorage Vote Centers open
- April 7: Regular Municipal Election Day: All ballot envelopes (including military and overseas envelopes) must be postmarked on or before Election Day, or returned to a Secure Drop Box or Anchorage Vote Center by 8 pm

It is important for your address information in the voter registration database to be current. To register to vote or to update your voter registration information, visit voterregistration.alaska.gov.
Voter Resources
Anchorage votes at home, which means ballot packages will b​​e mailed to your mailing address on record in the State of Alaska voter registration database. For Regular Municipal Elections, ballot packages will only be mailed to qualified Anchorage voters at least 21 days before Election Day.
